2009 - 2010 Winter hours for the Gift Shop 10-4p Mon. - Sat. 1-4p on Sun. Opened extended hours for special events. Closed THANKSGIVING, CHRISTMAS, NEW YEARS & EASTER and inclement weather. Listen to KK93, WNAX, and/or other regional stations for closings.


October 16th,17th, &18th | See the Byway the Quiltway |
The CDWc will be part of the Outlaw Trails Scenic Byway 12 "See the Byway the Quiltway" October 16, 17, & 18. Quilt displays will be shared along in all the communityies along the byway from south Sioux City, to Valentine, 10a-5p daily. Wrist bands may be purchased at the center along with receiving a map sharing the stops along the way.

Sunday November 15th | Material Culture of the Plains Indian - Native American Meal |
Fall fundraiser for the CDWC at St. James Market Place 4:30 p Quilts & Fellowship Drinks & appetizers; 5:30 p.m. Presentation by James Horn dressed in authentic 1750-1820 clothing will share historical facts, demostrations, and stories of the Plains Indian culture; 6:30 p.m. meal of Native American origin. Make reservations by calling 402-667-6557 by November 13th $22.00 individual or $40.00 couple. Menu for the evening: Dried Fruit, Pumkin Soup, Venison, Wild Rice, Apple Salad, Spotted Dog pudding, Cornbread and Honey spun butter. St.James is located near Wynot Nebraska on the Outlaw Trail Scenic Highway 12. Approximately 60 minutes west of South Sioux City, 50 minutes north of Norfolk and 40 minutes east of Yankton.


November 14th & 15th | ANNUAL QUILT SHOW AT ST. JAMES MARKET PLACE FOR THE CDWC |
10-4 Daily Quilt show will be held at the St. James Market Place, St. James, Nebraska. Quilts will be on display with refreshments and soup available. Event will end Sunday the 15th with James Horn presentation of "Culture of Plains Indian" and a meal of Native American orgin. All proceeds goes toward the operations of the CDWC organization. For reservationsand tickets please call 402-667-6557


December 12th & 13th | HOLIDAY ARTISAN OPEN HOUSE |
Extended hours for the the Hoilday Artisan Open House. Come and meet regional artisans that have items for sale and display in the CDWC Gift Shop and Gallery. Free drawings, raffle, and refreshments.

The Corps of Discovery Welcome Center is open 9-6 daily and located two miles south of the Meridian Bridge on Highway 81 or eight miles north of Highway 12 & 81’s intersection. The CDWC is a non-profit 501 (C) 3 organization whose council mission is to promote and share our diverse and unique culture, history, and landscape of northeast Nebraska and southeast South Dakota, thereby enhancing the economic prosperity of our communities.
